Lung Nodule Evaluation Clinic
Health professional information
Clinical service overview
Alfred Health runs a weekly lung nodule clinic and a lung nodule multidisciplinary meeting (MDM).
We accept referrals for GP and specialist for:
- Category 5 or 6 risk nodules detected through the National Lung Cancer Screening Programme (NLCSP)
- Incidental lung nodules that require follow up according to guidelines
Some patients may need to undergo additional testing before review, such as a dedicated or up to date CT scan of the chest, PET scan or lung function testing.
Patients will be reviewed either face-to-face or via telehealth to formulate a management plan that may involve a diagnostic procedure, short interval surveillance CT or discharge back to the referring doctor.
Providing the following information in the referral will ensure timely review and management:
- Location and provider of CT scan
- Previous CT scan reports if available
- Smoking history
- Personal and family history of malignancy (including lung cancer)
- Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Score or other assessment of performance status
Alfred Radiology also offers in house Low Dose CT scans as part of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program.
