Partnering with patients
Working with our patients and their families helps achieve the best health outcomes. We encourage you to get involved in planning and making decisions about your care.
We work in partnership with patients to help us improve the quality and safety of the care we provide. We include patients and consumers in planning, designing and evaluating their individual care and in organisational decision making to improve services.
Patients Come First
Putting patients first is more than just providing world-class clinical care. Our approach is to provide care that addresses every aspect of the patient experience. The Patients Come First strategy outlines key areas of focus for staff and their patients, which includes:
- Communication of patient rights and responsibilities
- Patient information that meets individual needs for care, treatment and access to our services
- Patient feedback and how to offer a compliment, a suggestion or make a complaint
- Patient centered care, including decision making in individual care
- Consumer and carer engagement in improving services.
We want patients, families and friends, to be actively involved in the decisions around the care that we provide. We see you as an important part of the healthcare team.
Staff will inform you about your condition, treatment options and care planning in a way that you can understand. It is important for us to know what is important to you and your family and friends. Let us know of any additional support that you may need to meet your individual needs.
Share your experience by giving us feedback. It will help us improve the overall patient experience.
Help us improve our services
We work in partnership with consumers, carers and community members in the planning, improvement and evaluation of services. Our consumers are meaningfully involved in the development of a variety of organisational plans and projects. At an organisational level, the Community Advisory Committee advises the Board of Directors about community participation and patient experience.
