National Lung Cancer Screening at The Alfred
Patient information
“The NLCSP will save the lives of 12,000 Australians over the next ten years by diagnosing over 70% of cases at an earlier stage.” – Lung Foundation Australia
As a tertiary referral centre, The Alfred is able to participate fully in this program from screening through to management of nodules, delivering high quality care along the entire patient journey. Once the program has become established at The Alfred Hospital we aim to bring SDMH on board as a screening centre.
Commencing 1st July 2025, this program provides free LDCT scans to eligible participants every 2 years. If an abnormality is found, shorter interval follow up scans may be required or in some cases, referral to a respiratory physician.
