Dr Gohar Maqbool is a dual-trained clinical and laboratory haematologist with expertise in malignant haematology, stem cell transplantation, and advanced cellular therapies including CAR-T. His principal appointment is at Alfred Health, Melbourne, with additional appointment at Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton, supporting integrated haematology and cancer services across regional Victoria.

He holds fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, with additional certification in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies through the European Blood and Marrow Transplant Society.

Dr Maqbool’s previous consultant appointments in the United Kingdom at University Hospital Southampton and University Hospital Bristol & Weston encompassed transplant, myeloid and lymphoid malignancies, and immune effector cell therapy programs. His clinical interests include transplantation for myeloid disorders, particularly myelofibrosis, graft-versus-host disease, the use of extracorporeal photopheresis for immune modulation, and donor lymphocyte infusion for relapse prevention. He has an active academic and research profile with international presentations and peer‑reviewed publications. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Melbourne, an RACP Basic Training accreditor, and is actively involved in teaching basic physician trainees and advanced haematology trainees.
