Dr Joanne Tan

MBBS BMedSci — Consultant Haematologist

Dr Jo Tan is a haematologist and bone marrow transplant physician with a special focus on cellular therapies for blood cancers.

Jo grew up in Malaysia and completed her medical schooling at the University of Melbourne in 2012. She undertook early medical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital/Peter Maccallum Cancer Centre and completed fellowship training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. She is engaged in research to enhance outcomes for patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Tan has received several awards, including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Doctor of Philosophy Scholarship, in recognition of her ongoing work in this field. She believes that positive patient outcomes are not only driven by good medical treatment but also by fostering strong relationships with patients and ensuring timely, compassionate communication.
