Breathe Easy Cocktail Party

Breathe Easy was established in 2015 by Shari Butcher, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), the most common life threatening genetic condition in Australia. There is currently no cure.

Event date

8 September 2018, 6:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Event location

Radcliffes, Echuca

CF most commonly affects the lungs and digestive system, and has a current life expectancy of 37 years of age. Shari is currently 29 years old, and sees Breathe Easy as a platform for raising both awareness of the condition, and funds into research to ensure CF can also stand for Creating a Future.

Since its inception, Breathe Easy has held various functions including cocktail parties and golf days within the Echuca Moama community and has raised over $80,000 for people living with CF and their families, and most importantly research into finding a cure.

Breathe Easy raises funds for The Royal Children's Hospital CF Research Trust, which is headed up by Dr Phil Robinson, who was Shari's treating clinician for 18 years, prior to her move into adult care at The Alfred.  The Research Trust raises funds to support research being undertaken into finding a cure for the condition. Breathe Easy also support Cystic Fibrosis Community Care, an organisation servicing VIC and NSW CF sufferers and their families.

Breathe Easy also supports The Alfred Respiratory department, since Shari's first hospitalization in March last year where she experienced first-hand, the wonderful care of the Alfred Respiratory Team. Shari has been an outpatient of The Alfred for over 10 years, and is keen to provide continued support to The Alfred.

Breathe Easy will continue to provide support and raise funds and awareness for these wonderful organisations however, it would not be at all possible without the amazing support of the community, support networks connected to people with CF and the wonderful businesses both locally in Echuca Moama, and within Melbourne and beyond, who support us year after year.

If you would like to join Breathe Easy in their support of those living with CF, the annual cocktail party is a great opportunity to get involved.
