Medicines information
We provide clinical advice to both Alfred Health patients and health professionals, who are seeking guidance around medicines.
What we do
We respond to a diverse range of medicine information requests including:
- information on appropriate dosing
- drug interactions for prescribed and complementary medicines
- adverse drug reactions
- alternative routes of administration
- safe storage of medication
We are responsible for the internal pharmacy resource DrugNet, which is a portal for medicine-related guidelines, pharmacy procedures and policies, patient education resources and quick links to important medicine related references.
The service also assists with the review of hospital medicine-related guidelines, participation in the Adverse Drug Reactions meeting and training of undergraduates and trainee pharmacists.
Non Alfred Health patients
If you are not a patient of Alfred Health but have questions pertaining to your medications, please contact your doctor, local pharmacist or the NPS Medicines Line (1300 633 424).
