How to access Ngamai Wilam
We offer 12 places for adults in Victoria for treatment at our residential centre. You can submit an expression of interest and our team will be in touch.
Pathway to the program
You do not need a referral from a GP or other health practitioner to access our residential treatment program. You can refer yourself to Ngamai Wilam.
Other people can help refer you to the program, but the decision to attend must be yours. Ngamai Wilam is a voluntary residential treatment program, and you must be willing to participate in order to get the full benefit of our program.

Our team will contact you within 7 days to help you decide if our approach is right for you at this time, what your individual care needs are, whether we have space available at present, and what supports may be available while you are waiting for a bed to become available.
How much does Ngamai Wilam cost?
Medicare covers the cost of your stay. Participants are responsible for incidental expenses like medications and therapy-related outings (e.g., meals at a restaurant or cafe).
What if I have individual needs?
Ngamai Wilam is an inclusive purpose-built environment. Please discuss your individual needs with our team when they contact you to discuss your referral.
How long is an admission?
While admissions to Ngamai Wilam are voluntary, a minimum four-week commitment is expected so that participants can get the full benefit of our program. The general length of our residential treatment program is 12 weeks.
Is there a waitlist?
All Ngamai Wilam Residential Program Enquiry Forms received will go through a triage process.
At times, there may be a waitlist. To support you during this time, Alfred Health has partnered with Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV) to provide additional guidance and care while you wait for an admission. This is in addition to the support you receive from your current treatment team.
