This clinic provides treatment to patients who have experienced an ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke or TIA.
Clinical service overview
We review patients admitted to the Stroke Unit and/or to consult patients referred by GP's or other hospital specialty units. We aim to ensure that all risk factors and potential causes of the stroke have been investigated and managed.
We also provide a service for patients who have presented to the Emergency Department with neurological symptoms that could be due to either a TIA, or TIA mimics such as migraines or epilepsy. Depending on the severity of the syndrome, not all of these patients require an inpatient stay and investigations can occur in the outpatient setting. We can provide comprehensive assessment and management to these patients.
