Dr Liesl Butler

Liesl is a clinical and laboratory haematologist with a special interest in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and pathology.

Liesl graduated from Monash University in 2010 and completed specialist training at Melbourne Health, Melbourne Pathology, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, St Vincent’s Health, and Western Health. She attained dual fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in 2018 and 2019, respectively. She also completed a PhD at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, investigating the genetic basis of MPNs, and undertook a molecular haematopathology fellowship at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Since 2020, Liesl has been a consultant at Alfred Health, where she manages patients with MPNs and contributes to clinical trials. In addition, she works in the diagnostic laboratory and holds an academic appointment as a Lecturer with Monash University, teaching haematology to postgraduate medical students.
