Dr Elizabeth Paratz is an academic cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in cardiac imaging, cardiomyopathies and sudden cardiac arrest. 

Liz Paratz is internationally recognized for her expertise in sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). She has led significant studies and initiatives in this area, contributing to the understanding and prevention of SCA and serves on multiple national and international collaborations. Her research encompasses clinical quality registries, big data linkage, cleaning and optimization, biostatistics and cardiac epidemiology. 

In addition to expertise in SCA, Liz is a senior cardiologist at the Comprehensive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy service at The Alfred Hospital, which provides a multidisciplinary approach to HCM, including diagnostic testing, genetic screening and advanced treatments. Liz has published on echocardiographic features of HCM, clinical genetics of HCM and limitations of current risk-stratification scores in international journals and presented at many national and international conferences on her work in HCM. 

Dr. Paratz serves as the Deputy Medical Director of the Timor-Leste Hearts Fund, where she provides volunteer cardiac services and is also a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner and Designated Aviation Cardiologist.
