Spiritual care careers
Alfred Health is where Spiritual Care thrives as a profession. Spiritual Care is embedded within the multi-disciplinary teams servicing all medical units across our three hospitals.
The Alfred is well-known for its Major Trauma Service and the majority of referrals to Spiritual Care come from ICU. We closely work together with palliative care, oncology, respiratory services and the inpatient psychiatry unit. Working as a Spiritual Carer at the Alfred asks for a high level of professionalism and the ability to deal with great complexity in a fast-paced environment.
Our Caulfield campus has a focus on rehab, allowing for Spiritual Care to continue ongoing support as patients transfer from The Alfred to Caulfield. At Caulfield, Spiritual Care has a calmer pace as patient admissions generally last longer. Spiritual Care supports patients in a period of adjustment and transition, offering in-depth conversation around meaning and purpose.
Our Sandringham campus services the local community. With a small Emergency Department as well as a surgical and general medicine ward, you will face it all. Spiritual Care at Sandringham is about reflecting the values of community, compassion and care.
What makes working as a Spiritual Care Practitioner at Alfred Health unique is the openness to all belief systems and faith backgrounds. Our Spiritual care practitioners feel included and respected and enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of patients and staff. Our service is recognised organisation wide for delivering compassionate patient centered care.
Alfred Health is a welcoming and supportive place that will bring out the best in you as a Spiritual Care professional.
