Dr Tony Kambourakis
As Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director Medical Services, Tony’s areas of responsibility include Medical Workforce, Medical Education, Clinical Governance, Patient Experience & Consumer Engagement, Pharmacy and Library
Tony is a medical specialist dual-qualified in emergency medicine and medical administration and joined Alfred Health as Director Medical Services in 2016. Prior to this, he was the Director of Emergency Medicine at Monash Medical Centre.
With extensive clinical experience, and expertise in clinical governance, patient safety, and medical workforce development, Tony is committed to positioning Alfred Health at the forefront of clinical service delivery, education, and research.
He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and is an adjunct senior lecturer with Monash University’s School of Translational Medicine and an examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.
He is Chair of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) Medical Workforce Committee, and a member of the Victorian Medical Council. He was previously a Board Director at Peninsula Health and Chair of the Quality, Safety and People Committee. He was also a Panel Member of the Victorian Ministerial Review of Public Sector Medical Staff Workplace Systems and Employment Arrangements.
