Research Week at The Alfred focuses on several major events showcasing research; the Research Poster Display, the AMREP Research Prize, and Research Day. Research Week is hosted by AMREP and showcases the brilliant research undertaken across The Alfred precinct
Throughout this week, there are several important events held which celebrate our research achievements:
AMREP Research Poster Display
The annual Alfred Week Research Poster Display showcases the latest in research from across AMREP. This year, close to 180 research posters were displayed for a week from 18 – 22 June, on the ground floor of The Alfred hospital.
Prizes are awarded for the posters judged best in categories such as infectious diseases, cardiovascular disease, mental health, nursing and allied health.
Research Day 2018
Convened by the Director of Research, Research Day 2018 featured an inspiring keynote address by Susan Alberti AC, one of Australia’s pre-eminent philanthropists, having donated millions of dollars to medical research and other charitable causes over her successful business career.
AMREP Research Prize
The AMREP Research Prizes (clinical and basic) are awarded annually on Research Day for the best original research articles published in the previous calendar year. You can find out more about them here.
The 2018 winner of the AMREP Prize for Basic Research was Professor Dmitri Sviridov, (Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute), while two awards were made for Clinical Research, to Professor Jamie Cooper (Monash University and Alfred Health) and Professor Paul Myles (Monash University and Alfred Health).
