We assess and treat patients with adult cardiovascular disease.
Clinical service overview
General Cardiology works in close collaboration with the other units in cardiology. We provide comprehensive care for virtually all cardiovascular conditions.
As a tertiary referral centre we treat all general cardiology problems in our local community as well as being a statewide referral centre for specialised conditions and procedures.
We also work in close collaboration with Cardiothoracic Surgery.
A full range of inpatient and outpatient general cardiology services are provided. These include management of acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease and heart failure.
We also offer a complete range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations and have active interventional coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and structural heart disease programmes.
This service does not routinely offer treatment for the following:
- Patients who are being treated for the same condition at another Victorian public hospital
- Children under 18 years of age
