Welcome to Bayside Health
Victoria’s newest health service, Bayside Health, has come to life to benefit more than one million Victorians through better connected care.
The health service’s official start on 1 January 2026 is an important step forward in a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for a catchment of more than 1.2 million people.
Bayside Health Chief Executive Adjunct Professor Adam Horsburgh said the voluntary merger brings five health services together into one with the goal of extending exceptional care to Victorians no matter where they live.
“The first official day of Bayside Health is a significant milestone in Victorian public healthcare,” Prof Horsburgh said.
“Whether you are living in a rural, regional or metropolitan area our goal at Bayside Health is for you to receive the same seamless, high-quality care.”
Bayside Health brings together Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health.
Each hospital and healthcare site will continue to operate under its existing name, with the same staff delivering the same trusted care.
“We are already working to improve connected care; increasing access to clinical trials and creating models to deliver more services closer to home,” Prof Horsburgh said.
“One of the many benefits of the merger is the strengthening of the workforce through new opportunities, including clinical education, training and enhanced clinical networks.
“We are stronger together and, as we build Bayside Health, we will continue to focus on excellence and compassionate care.”
The new health service covers a broad region spanning Melbourne’s southern suburbs, through to the Mornington Peninsula and extending to Koo Wee Rup, Phillip Island, Bass Coast, and South Gippsland.
