A/Prof Jeremy Ruben
Jeremy is a radiation oncologist with subspecialty in brain, lung, stereotactic radiosurgery and Stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT) among other areas.
Jeremy qualified in medicine cum laude in 1994. He obtained FCRadOnc in 2003 and RANZCR in 2006. He subsequently earned additional academic postgraduate degrees of Master of Medicine in 2007 and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2015. He was appointed Associate Professor at Monash University in 2017.
After completing a fellowship in advanced radiotherapy techniques at The Alfred, he was recruited as a consultant in 2006 where he is senior specialist and head of the Stereotactic, CNS and Lung programmes.
He is enthusiastically involved in the training and examining of specialists, as well as academic and clinical research. He became the director of training at The Alfred in 2009. He subsequently established the specialist training network programme for Victoria and Tasmania as the inaugural Training Network Director for RANZCR, a position he continued for 11 years as RANZCR committee chair. He also accredits hospital sites for specialist RANZCR training.
Jeremy has been an examiner for the final specialist exams in radiation oncology for 12 years.
He is a founding member and executive of RANZCR Faculty of radiation oncology lung interest group and sits on the stereotactic working group of TROG (Australasian radiation oncology clinical trials group). He is currently a scientific advisory committee member for The Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) and previously for Australian Lung cancer trials group (TOGA/ALCTG).
He is chief or associate investigator on several successful grants from NHMRC and CCA for clinical trials in brain tumours, melanoma and SABR and was principle investigator of several trials in stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases.
He is an author of the Australian national lung cancer guidelines (CCA) as well as contributor to eviQ guidelines for stereotactic radiosurgery, brain metastases, glioma and lung cancer among others
He has over 40 publications and has been an invited speaker at both local and international conferences.
