Contact Ethics & Research Governance

The Office of Ethics & Research Governance has multiple functions:

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, guidelines and codes of practice
  • Facilitate ethical approval
  • Facilitate site specific authorisation
  • Assist in the oversight of legal and insurance documentation
  • Create policies and guidelines for responsible ethical review and research conduct
  • Maintain the ethics and governance review software, ERA
  • Oversee post-approval and post-authorisation reporting
  • Provide induction and training for HREC members
  • Keep performance measurement and planning statistics
  • Provide reports for internal and external bodies

Complaints about the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee review process

If you are a researcher and have a complaint or concern about the review of your ethics application by the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee, please contact the Senior Manager at research@alfred.org.au or phone (03) 9076 8825.

When registering a complaint, quote the local project number or project title and provide your preferred contact details.

What happens with your complaint?

  • Following receipt, the complaint is allocated a reference number and recorded in our database.
  • The complaint is referred to the Director of Research, Alfred Care Group, (or delegate).
  • The complaint is reviewed, which may require input from the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee.
  • The response to your complaint will come from the Senior Manager.
  • If the complaint is not resolved, external input may be sought.
