      Over the years the names have changed:
- 1987 -The Amalgamated Alfred, Caulfield and Royal Southern Memorial Hospital.
- 1989 – The Alfred Group of Hospitals
- February 1995 – The Alfred Healthcare Group
- August 1995 – Eastern Health Care Network (EHCN), which comprised:
	- The Alfred Healthcare Group
- The Angliss Hospital
- Box Hill Hospital
- Burwood Hospital
- Healesville Hospital
- Maroondah Hospital
- The Peter James Centre.
 
- 1996 – Inner & Eastern Health Care Network (I&EHCN) – this followed an amendment to the Health Services Act, following the aggregation of the Eastern Health Care Network and the Inner Health Care Network. I&EHCN was comprised of:
	- The Alfred
- Angliss Health Service
- Box Hill Hospital
- Caulfield General Medical Centre
- Maroondah Hospital
- Peter James Centre
- Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute
- Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital
- St George's Hospital and Inner Eastern Geriatric Service
- Yarra Ranges Health Service
 
- 1997 – The Alfred
- 2000 – Bayside Health – following restructure of health services in metropolitan Melbourne as part of a Ministerial Review of health care networks. The network comprised The Alfred, Caulfield General Medical Centre (and their associated entities) and Sandringham and District Hospital from the former Southern Health Care Network.
- 2008 – Alfred Health – same three hospitals as Bayside Health, changed by order of the Governor in Council.
