Future capital projects
Redeveloping The Alfred and the Breezeway at Caulfield Hospital are priority projects. We continue to work with the Victorian Government on securing support and funding for these important initiatives.
The St Kilda wing
One of the flagship projects for Alfred Health over the next five years is our plan for a St Kilda wing.
The new St Kilda wing, and associated Monash Research Building and refurbished Main Ward Block, will be the most important capital development at The Alfred since 1970.
Once funding is committed to this project, the St Kilda wing will provide state-of-the-art operating suite and pathology facilities, and expanded modern wards and intensive care unit. It will support The Alfred’s role as a major trauma centre and transplant centre for Victoria.
The new Monash Research Building will provide much needed research and education space for Monash University’s Central Clinical School, continuing to support the world-class Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre.
Replacing the Breezeway
For some years we have aimed to replace the ageing ‘Breezeway’ at Caulfield Hospital. The Breezeway houses the hospital's three rehabilitation inpatient wards. The goal is to replace this very old building with a new Inpatient Unit.
