Enquiries about your health

Your family and friends will want to know how you are during your stay with us. Please nominate one family member (on behalf of all family) to contact Main Reception on (03) 9076 1000, who will direct them to the appropriate ward. It is important that patients register their phone service on admission so that calls can be directed to the bedside.

If your family would like more information regarding your care, they can leave their contact details with the nurse in charge and they will be contacted by a member of the team responsible for your care.

Food and drinks

Vending machines

Food and hot drinks are available from vending machines in the hospital.

Mobile phones

In some areas we will ask you to turn off your mobile phone and other devices so they do not interfere with the operation of medical equipment or disturb others.

Pastoral and spiritual care

Pastoral care is available to all patients and their families irrespective of culture or religion. Should you wish to see your own Chaplain or Pastoral Care worker, please ask the staff caring for you.

Public toilets

Public toilets are available including baby change facilities.

Visitors are requested to use public toilets and not patient toilets.

Security

Alfred Health has security officers on site 24 hours a day to assist patients, visitors and staff.

Staff can assist you to contact this service.

Smokefree

The hospital is a smoke free environment. Smoking is not permitted in the buildings or the hospital grounds.

If you are a patient who smokes, you may speak to staff about your needs and seek support.

Volunteers

Volunteers assist with a range of activities such as collecting patient surveys, administration and ward support. Our volunteers bring the community into the hospital – something we believe is important.
