Maternity services at Sandringham Hospital
Providing world-class maternity care to expecting mothers and families across each stage of pregnancy.
Clinical oversight of the service is provided by Bayside Health’s Peninsula team, who also care for women and newborns at Peninsula University Hospital.
Sandringham Hospital provides care for healthy women with uncomplicated pregnancies. This includes women with a singleton (one baby) pregnancy, with gestational diabetes (diabetes onset in pregnancy and managed by diet or low dose insulin), women planning a repeat caesarean section, and women with a body mass index up to 35.
Women who plan to birth at Sandringham Hospital, can have their pregnancy care in either:
- the Maternity Clinic in the Women’s Health Clinic at Sandringham Hospital
- with a Bayside Health specialist obstetrician in their private rooms or
- in the Shared Care Program. This option enables you to continue some appointments with your GP or private midwife during pregnancy. Shared pregnancy care is dependent on your wishes and pregnancy care needs.
