Volunteer at Caulfield Hospital

Volunteers are vital to our hospital. Every day, they make a real difference by providing support and services that enhance the experience for patients, visitors, and staff alike.

Why volunteer with us?

We recognise that volunteer involvement is a critical part of Australian society. We believe volunteer involvement strengthens our community and celebrates the passions of every individual.

When you volunteer, you’ll:

  • Make a meaningful impact by supporting patients and staff
  • Be part of a caring team that values collaboration and connection
  • Grow personally and professionally, building confidence and new skills
  • Have fun!

What do our volunteers do?

Our volunteers, identified by their bright red uniforms, can be seen buzzing around our busy hospital! You’ll find them across all areas of Alfred Health, bringing their enthusiasm and warmth wherever they go.

Some of our roles include:

  • Host volunteer - brighten someone’s day by offering companionship and conversation to patients who may feel isolated or lonely.
  • Concierge volunteer - be the friendly face that helps visitors and patients find their way, whether it’s giving directions or walking them to their destination.
  • Patient Experience Feedback volunteer - listen to patients’ stories and collect feedback about their hospital stay, helping us improve the quality of care.
  • Program volunteer - support health and wellbeing programs, like gym and pool activities at Caulfield Hospital, making recovering more engaging.
  • Volunteer transport driver - provide safe, reliable transport for patients who need help getting to their appointments, supporting them on their rehabilitation journey.
  • Consumer Advisor - use your lived experience as a health service use to improve safety and quality of care. Learn more here.
