Challenge yourself and change lives. Run Melbourne is perfect for first-timers and those preparing for a full marathon later in the year. The race starts on St Kilda Road just south of Princes Bridge and weaves around Melbourne, finishing up in Birrarung Marr to cheers from supporters, family and friends. Runners follow a route through the city, passing many of the city’s beautiful green spaces and taking in the sights including Flinders Street Station, The Shrine of Remembrance, the Yarra River and Melbourne’s world famous sporting district.
Once registered to participate in Run Melbourne you can walk, run or roll as part of Team Alfred by setting up your own online giving page through Everyday Hero and select The Alfred Foundation as your chosen charity. Your support will help The Alfred to redevelop our facilities, improve patient care, build our knowledge and share our learnings with the world.
As a member of Team Alfred, you’ll be part of a committed, supportive and friendly community. We can provide you with fundraising support and guidance and everyone who raises over $150 receives a limited edition Team Alfred running top.

Be part of something extraordinary
After 29 days in an induced coma I woke up in The Alfred after a deadly bacterial infection attacked my body. I had six surgeries in the first 10 days as the infection travelled through my body, shutting down each of my vital organs.
After I woke, it took another two weeks on the ward to relearn how to walk, talk and even write my name before I went home. Over the next 12 months I rebuilt my health and strength and so I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate than taking part in Run Melbourne.
I owe them so, so much more than I could ever give them!
