Event date

21 September 2019

Event location

Bright, Victoria

The beautiful town of Bright in North-East Victoria, has a great affiliation with cycling with some of Australia’s most popular cycling events are held in the area including the Australian Mountain Bike Championships.

The Bright Mountain Bike Park continues to grow in popularity with over 60km of dedicated MTB single track all within 5km of the centre of town. The Alpine Cycling Club together with the Alpine Community Plantation group are working hard to establish a world-class facility with trails for all abilities that are graded and mapped.

The Alfred 6 Hour event run by community fundraiser and local paramedic Ross Walker raises funds to support the Emergency and Trauma Centre at The Alfred.

The Alfred has provided critical care and emergency services since its opening in 1871 and, currently, the hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Centre is one of Australia’s busiest emergency departments and treats the majority of Victoria’s major trauma patients. The Alfred treats more than 65,000 patients a year – a figure that rises between 3% and 5% each and every year.

The ‘public face’ of the hospital, the Centre is nationally and internationally acknowledged as a leader in trauma and critical care. It is open to all – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In an environment where we receive on average 180 patients in Emergency and Trauma every day, advanced and specialised equipment is fundamental to our ability to save lives.  To provide the best medical care, we must invest in the best equipment. Your support will help us be ready to purchase equipment when needed.

All funds raised by The Alfred 6 Hour race will go towards establishing the Life-saving Equipment Fund.  The Fund will give us the flexibility to buy lifesaving equipment as soon as it is needed, meaning we can have greater impact, faster.
