PrEPX South Australia
Alfred Health’s highly successful PrEPX study for those at risk for HIV infection has expanded into South Australia thanks to a new partnership with South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and SA Health.
PrEPX closed enrolments one March 31.
PrEP became on PBS from April 1 and is now accessible through your regular GP or sexual health doctor. For people accessing PrEPX post April 1, you can see your GP to get a normal script, as the study will have completed.
There will be a difference in the cost of PrEP as you will need to pay a co-payment for each script.
If you have any questions about finding a GP to access PrEP please contact us on (03) 9076 2940.
The PrEPX Study is also being conducted in Victoria and Tasmania:
What is PrEPX-SA?
PrEPX-SA will monitor how providing large-scale access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) medication impacts the rate of new infections across the state. There will be 500 places available in the study.
This study is funded by the Government of South Australia. The South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) will provide the leadership and coordination of the project.
PrEPX-SA opened on the 15th May 2017. To access the study please contact one of the clinics below to make an appointment.
