Each year, The Alfred treats thousands of people living with cancer. Alfred Health’s cancer service includes 28 inpatient beds, 18 day procedure units, and a large radiotherapy and chemotherapy centre solely dedicated to treating adult cancer patients.
Thanks to the support of Dry July and those who participate each year, The Alfred has undergone some remarkable improvements in a number of the areas where our patients and their families spend time. Thanks to the support generated by our wonderful Dry Julyers, we have been able to make these spaces a little brighter and more comfortable.
A cancer diagnosis and a prolonged and intensive confinement to hospital can take an immense toll on a young adult’s life. Thanks to the support of the Dry July Foundation, The Alfred has been able to implement a new adolescence and young adult’s breakout area and provide a space where they can relax and act their age. Funds raised through Dry July have also enabled The Alfred to introduce its very first music therapy program to help patients deal with their cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as implementing an accommodation program for regional and rural patients undergoing treatment for cancer. This year we hope to be able to continue to fund these amazing patient programs as well as make some further improvements to the patient garden and young adult’s space. But we need your help!
Make this year your year to join us for Dry July and help support people affected by cancer by improving the world that surrounds them.
