As part of its commitment to providing the best possible patient care, The Alfred is currently raising funds for a new mobile CT scanner. This new mobile CT scanner is the most advanced machine of its kind, helping The Alfred stay at the forefront of technology.
The new mobile CT scanner will speed up lifesaving diagnosis and treatment. Instead of patients having to be moved out of the ICU for a scan, the CT scan machine can be moved to the bedside allowing for quicker diagnosis. The average CT patient scan time will be reduced from 1 hour to just 15 mins.
It will at least triple the number of patients we can scan each day, giving doctors much faster access to the critical information they need to save them.
That’s especially important in The Alfred’s ICU, one of the biggest and busiest in Australia. Our ICU specialists care for more than 3,000 critically ill patients every year.
