This year we will again offer two stand-alone courses in Italy for critical care clinicians looking for development opportunities in management and trauma decision-making. The courses are offered in collaboration with Monash University and are designed for a diverse international audience.
Emergency Department Leadership (27 - 30 April 2020)
Leading and managing are intrinsic parts of being a doctor. Often without formal recognition, doctors manage teams, lead service improvements, provide staff development opportunities and contribute to the day-to-day management of their departments. From very early in their careers doctors have a significant impact on the quality and safety of patient care, on patient experience, staff morale, and on the effectiveness of the working environment.
This course equips participants with a practical toolkit to progress from great clinician to great clinical leader. It also provides an environment to practice leadership techniques and to benefit from the experience of international colleagues. Over the four days, participants take part in personal reflections, lectures, group tasks, case studies and other activities to enable their development as well-rounded, well-networked clinical leaders. Participants are provided with self-directed online pre-learning activities (approximately 10 hours) in preparation for the four-day workshop.
Trauma Masterclass: gutsy decision-making under pressure (27 - 30 April 2020)
A large number of critical, life-saving decisions and interventions determine the difference between life, disability and death for trauma patients. This three-day masterclass will equip you with the knowledge and tools to lead trauma reception and resuscitation and change the lives of your patients. We will share our experience and discuss strategies to make the correct decision without delay, every-time. Our job is to save lives.
Course faculty are from The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre which is the busiest trauma centre in Australasia. The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre is at the forefront of trauma education and is well known for their cadaveric Procedures Course, Trauma Resuscitation Workshop and Trauma Skills Course, all of which have been delivered nationally and internationally.
