Support Team Alfred this Dry July
You can help make a difference to our patients living with cancer by taking part in Dry July, or by donating to the team of Alfred staff going without alcohol this month.
The Alfred has 28 inpatient beds and 18 chair day procedure units, including a large radiotherapy and chemotherapy centre, solely dedicated to adult cancer patients.
Each year we treat approximately 3,000 adult cancer patients from across Victoria.
The Alfred’s multi-disciplinary cancer services allow for close coordination with a range of cancer specialists including surgeons, medical oncologists, haematologists, and palliative care physicians.
This year, funds raised from Dry July will go towards improving areas where our patients and their families spend a considerable amount of time, making spaces a little brighter and more comfortable.
The focus of the improvements will be on creating an area especially for adolescence and young adult patients on Ward 7East.
The redeveloped area will include a new bathroom and breakout space with televisions and other entertainment to make their stay as pleasant as possible.
Patients in the Alfred Health Radiation Oncology Centre will also benefit from a redeveloped waiting room which will allow for more privacy and the addition of a mobile phone charging station.
