Sandringham Hospital Referral and Management Guidelines

Sandringham Hospital triages all outpatient referrals according to urgency. Referral and Management Guidelines for General Practitioners provide information about:

  • when to refer
  • what information including investigations are required in referrals
  • the priority for each condition listed

Please fax your referral to the Sandringham Hospital Outpatient Department on 9076 1252.

You will receive notification upon receipt of referral and of the date of your patient's Outpatient appointment. If you have any concerns about the timing of your patient's appointment, or if the patient's condition changes prior to being seen in Sandringham Hospital Specialist Clinics, please contact the unit registrar concerned through switchboard on 9076 1000.

Alfred Health gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the Canterbury and District Health Board in New Zealand in developing these guidelines. They are intended as a guide only and have been developed in conjunction with the Heads of Unit at Alfred Health.

These referral guidelines do not intend to preclude a referral where the diagnosis is unclear, or if a second opinion for management options is requested.
