Community Consultation

Responding to future needs of the HIV community

There are approximately 6,000 people living with HIV in Victoria. This number is growing as people with HIV are living longer due to advances in treatment. This encouraging development brings with it the need to change the way healthcare is provided and address the growing demand for community and outpatient services.

Alfred Health is considering how to best respond to the changing needs of the HIV community. As part of this process we have considered several options for future services, which are outlined in the Responing to future needs of the HIV community booklet (below).

Community consultation

Consultation has included:

  • Three community forums: see below for summaries of forums held on 22 November, 12 December and 22 January
  • A survey: online and printed
  • Dropboxes for feedback positioned in community organisations as well relevant Alfred Health clinics
  • An email post box for feedback
  • A 'consultation response' telephone line

The consultation period, which was extended to Friday 31 January 2014, is now closed.

Community feedback gathered through this process will form the basis of a consultaion report. The report will be reviewed by the HIV Services Consultation Panel and made publicly available in February 2014.
