The Alfred's fundraising priority this year is the expansion of The Alfred Centre.
The first stage of The Alfred Centre opened in early 2007. It introduced a new model of care that brought together surgery and diagnostics services into a ‘one stop shop' facility, an Australian first for public hospital patients.
The Alfred Centre is now being expanded to add to the service if offers patients. For example, orthopaedic patients will now be able to see their orthopaedic surgeon, their physiotherapist and use the specialised equipment in the gym all in the one visit.
Once the Centre is completed, a full spectrum of care and research facilities will be co-located within the one building, greatly enhancing the treatment and care for patients.
