Advanced Training Positions in General Medicine 
  

 

13 positions (including 1 as Principal Registrar)

 

 

The General Medical Unit at The Alfred is a dynamic well supported unit with an education and research focus.  These highly regarded positions provide experience in the care of patients with multi-system diseases, Peri-Operative experience in Surgery and Trauma Medicine, MET call experience, and inpatient care, including acute management and streaming from the emergency department under the supervision of senior clinicians, many with sub-specialty interests.


Sub-specialty rotations include six monthly rotations in Respiratory Medicine (AirMed, Alfred), Intensive Care Medicine (Cabrini), Cardiology (Alfred), Neurology and Endocrine combined rotation, and Cardiology (Mildura three to six month rotation
, with experience in electrocardiography and echocardiography reporting).  Rotations may include six months of General Medicine at Cabrini Malvern.


Successful applicants may also attend a sub-specialty clinic of interest and contribute to clinical research projects, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and professional development programs.


Rotations are designed to satisfy the RACP PREP Advanced Training curriculum in General and Acute Care Medicine.


 

Principal Registrar (1 position) 

This leadership position includes 0.5EFT experience in the Disease Management Unit, Clinical Pharmacology and specialty clinics.  The successful applicant may also attend a sub-specialty clinic of interest.  The position incorporates undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assisting the DPEs in coordinating the FRACP clinical and written exam preparation, as well as clinical and educational research opportunities.
