Salary Packaging

Alfred Health offers salary packaging to all full-time, part-time and casual staff.

Salary Packaging enables employees to direct pre-tax income towards benefits such as superannuation or mortgage repayments to reduce their PAYG (Pay As You Go) tax and increase their disposable income.

You can salary package a number of expenses that attract Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), but are not subject to GST, from your pre-tax salary of up to a capping limit of $9,095 each FBT year (1 April - 31 March).

Expenses include:

  • Mortgage or rent payments;
  • Private health insurance premiums;
  • Personal loan repayments;
  • School tuition fees;
  • HECS/HELP repayments; and
  • Credit card reimbursements (made upon submission of a credit card statement to McMillan Shakespeare).

Onsite Car Parking

Alfred Health provides on-site car parking for all staff at The Alfred, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital.

Each Division has an allocation of the number of car parks available and priority parking are given to staff who work shift and permanent night work.

Fees for car parking are paid out of your fortnightly salary pre-tax.

In-house Professional Development

Alfred Health currently provides a wide range of in-house professional development courses which are made available to all staff.

The courses aim to provide managers and staff with effective learning opportunities and organisation development strategies, with a view to assist in creation of a high participation, performance-oriented positive work and learning environment within Alfred Health.

We offer scheduled learning programs for staff, management and executive development programs, customised training, and consultancy in performance management and organisation development.

Staff Clinic

The staff clinic is here to look after your health and well being.

The main focus of the clinic is on work-related injuries and illnesses as well as preventative programs such as vaccinations.

If you take ill at work the staff in the clinic can be of assistance also.

Staff Counselling Services & Peer Support Program

Alfred Health counselling service is a short term, confidential and professional service. Counselling is available for all staff. 

The Alfred has an in-house counselling service located in Human Resources. Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals have an external provider for counselling sessions.

Alfred Health recognises that staff occasionally witness traumatic situations in the workplace. Peer Supporters are specially trained and help staff to deal with critical incidents.

Peer Supporters are current employees who have volunteered to be part of this program.

Staff Gymnasiums (The Alfred & Caulfield Hospital)

The Alfred and Caulfield Hospital have Staff Fitness Centres onsite for staff.

The Alfred Staff Fitness Centre is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and is staffed by an external fitness company with experience in running similar facilities.  

The Fitness Centre provides staff with group and personalised workouts.

Caulfield Hospital's Staff Fitness Centre is also run by an external fitness company and is open Monday-Friday with dedicated session times.

The gym provides staff with a mixture of group and personalised workouts.

All you could want from a gym is available right here at Alfred Health, with membership and casual visits priced well below commercial rates.

Membership fees are paid out of pre-tax salary, another great benefit.

Alfred Child Care Centre

The Alfred Child Care Centre is managed by an external organisation and operates on site at The Alfred Hospital to provide a high quality service primarily to meet the needs of The Alfred's staff.

The Centre caters for children 6weeks to 6years and operates Monday-Friday 51 weeks of the year.
