Research & Ethics Unit

The Research and Ethics Unit is based at The Alfred and comprises The Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office and The Alfred Ethics Office.

The Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office administers external and internal research funding for The Alfred and the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.

It is also responsible for monitoring research performance across AMREP and compiling the annual AMREP Research Report.

Administrative support is provided by the Research Office for the AMREP Council and the AMREP Scientific Advisory Committee.

The Ethics Office is the secretariat for The Alfred Human Research Ethics Committee and its subcommittees (the Research Review Committee and the General Ethical Issues Sub-committee).

The Alfred Ethics Committee reviews and monitors human research across Bayside Health, including research at -

  • The Alfred
  • Caulfield Hospital
  • Sandringham Hospital
  • Melbourne Sexual Health Centre
  • the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute
  • the Burnet Institute
  • Nucleus Network.
