Deakin University and La Trobe University have more recently joined AMREP, with involvement in new initiatives.

Research at AMREP is strongly collaborative and is further strengthened by the ‘bench to bedside' approach facilitated by the close physical proximity of the research laboratories of the two medical research institutes and Monash University Central & Eastern Clinical School to the facilities and wards of The Alfred.

Other important AMREP collaborators are the Monash Unversity Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine and the Centre for Obesity Research and Education (CORE), both of which form part of the new School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
