Advanced Physician Training in Aged Care

 

Caulfield Hospital is a member of Alfred Health and a teaching hospital of Monash University.  The hospital has 330 beds and provides acute and sub-acute services in aged care, rehabilitation, residential care and aged mental health.  The hospital employs 40 senior medical staff, 16 advanced trainees and 18 junior doctors on rotation from the Alfred Hospital. 

 

We are offering 8 accredited Aged Care Registrar training positions spread across Caulfield, The Alfred, Sandringham and Cabrini Hospitals with rotations through the various aged care inpatient and non-inpatient programs, Aged Psychiatry and Palliative Care.

Caulfield Hospital also hosts one of the Victorian Continence training Fellowships (TBC) in partnership with Eastern Health (6 month rotations).  Applications for this Fellowship are directed to Alfred Health, Eastern Health and the Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program (VGMTP).

 

Alfred Health participates in the centralised match for Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine in Victoria via the VGMTP/RACP.


Applicants will need to apply to Alfred Health as well as to the VGMTP/RACP Centralised Match (details to be announced). Please note that Alfred Health's closing dates are in advance of the closing dates for submission of your preference lists to VGMTP/RACP to allow for interviews to be arranged.

 

There will be two categories of applicants and thus closing dates: 

1.    Applicants already in the RACP Advanced Training program
     in Geriatric Medicine:  22nd July 2016.
 

2.  New applicants for Advanced Training in Geriatric Medicine (i.e.
      not previously an Advanced trainee in this specialty) and those
      Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine that were not matched
      in first round):  19th August 2016.
