Community Participation

Community & Consumer Participation at Alfred Health

Our approach to community involvement

At Alfred Health we value and welcome input from the community about how we can improve the quality and safety of our services.

As we to strive to do better, feedback from the community and consumers helps us address the diverse needs of patients, carers and the communities we serve.

Alfred Health Community Participation Model

The Alfred Health Community Participation Model has been developed as a tangible expression for the organisation's commitment to community participation and engagement.

The model is based on the strategic goal of ‘Working in partnership with our community, consumers and carers to improve our services' (Alfred Health Strategic Plan 2006 - 2010).  The model lists five key result areas and a number of measures of success which forms the foundation of the Community Participation Plan. The model also illustrates how community participation can be addressed across three key levels of the health service system: individual care level; program or department level and organisational level.

Alfred Health Community Participation Plan

The Community Participation Plan is developed by the Alfred Health Community Advisory Committee in consultation with health service staff and other consumers, carers and community members. The current plan is an annual plan for 2010. A progress report for the 2007 - 2009 Community Participation Plan is available here: Final Progress Report.
