Occupational Therapy at Sandringham Hospital strives to enhance people's quality of life, enabling them to participate in chosen life occupations.
Core assessments and treatments include activities of daily living assessment, home assessment, cognitive assessment, occupational assessment, prescription of adaptive equipment, advice regarding home modifications and retraining in daily living skills.
The Sandringham Occupational Therapy Department provides service to both acute and subacute orthopaedic, general medical and general surgical inpatients and to patients attending the pre-admission orthopaedic clinic.
We also receive referrals via the Emergency Department and provide a limited weekend service.
The department currently consists of two full-time and one part-time Occupational Therapist, allied health assistants and an Appliance Clerk who is responsible for the adaptive equipment issued to patients.
