Description of Service

Services are provided to the acute, rehabilitation, and Baringa wards at Caulfield Hospital:

  • Supply/Dispensing Service: is offered to inpatients, and outpatients of the consulting clinics on Section - 100 drugs.
  • Clinical Service: pharmacists review medication orders and advise prescribers on most appropriate and cost-effective drugs and doses. Pharmacokinetic monitoring and predictions for high-risk drugs, eg gentamicin is also provided.
  • Education Service: pharmacists also educate outpatients and at-risk patients at time of discharge, as well as provide drug information to medical and nursing staff.

The services are backed up by The Alfred Pharmacy, and are ISO-9002 certified.

Weekend pharmacist to service wards in the morning.
